What is the difference between brown and white eggs?

<< Back

The breed of the hen determines the color of the shell, but there is no difference in the content of the eggs. White eggs come from birds with white feathers and white ear lobes, while brown eggs come from birds with red feathers and red or brown ear lobes. Hens that lay brown eggs are slightly larger birds that require more food, so brown eggs usually carry a higher price point than white eggs.
